Cravings are often a planning problem, not a self-control problem.
When meals and groceries aren’t planned, food decisions get made when you’re hungry, stressed, or short on time. That’s when convenience foods win.
A simple fix: plan enough so good options are available.
For example:
- Cook a pot of soup or beans on the weekend
- Wash and prep vegetables once
- Cook 5 or 6 portions of your favorite fish each Sunday
- Have fruit visible and ready to eat, such as apples, oranges, pineapple, and berries
- Keep some no added sugar Larabars or IQBars in your car, desk, or backpack
Or you can order healthy meals to be delivered to your home and kept in your freezer.
I have used Daily Harvest and FireRoad recently.
When food that supports your goals is already prepared, cravings lose their leverage. You don’t need willpower—you need planning.
