About Keith A. Herman
An evidence-based approach to health, nutrition, and habit change.
Keith is a trusts and estates attorney with over 25 years of experience helping clients prepare for death and minimize taxes. As an attorney, he built a career around evaluating evidence and distilling complex information into clear, actionable advice. Now, he’s expanding his focus from wealth planning to health planning, empowering people to plan for a thriving life, not just the end of it.
Keith is the founder of the Expert Diet Project, an evidence-based initiative focused on correcting health misinformation by spotlighting the advice of the real experts.
In this short video, Keith explains why he doesn’t call himself a nutrition expert, and why he created the Expert Diet Project to help people stop getting misled by headlines.
Why This Approach Works
In researching the healthiest ways to eat, Keith reviewed thousands of studies on nutrition and behavior change, along with national and global nutrition guidelines and the science behind them. His goal was to understand why healthy eating so often fails, and what actually makes changes stick.
The American Bar Association recognized his ability to translate complex topics with an Excellence in Writing Award. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, a peer-elected organization that only admits professionals who demonstrate exceptional skill in their field.
Wondering What an Evidence-Based Approach Actually Looks Like?
In March 2026, Keith presented to the Well-Being Subcommittee of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, a peer-elected organization of the country’s leading trusts and estates attorneys. The topic: how exercise, nutrition, and sleep improve mental health and subjective well-being, and how all of it is built into the Health & Well-Being Journal. The presentation draws on 35 peer-reviewed sources.
