Most people dramatically underestimate how much—or how little—they eat of certain foods.
For example many people think they eat plenty of fruit, but when they measure, they discover they are eating less than half the recommended amount.
Health care organizations recommend about 300 grams of fruit per day, which is about 2 cups (or 2 medium pieces).
Using a simple digital scale for a few days can reveal gaps between intention and reality, especially for fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
Try this:
Buy a scale and for a few days, measure the fruit you eat before you put it on your plate. See if you are eating at least 300 grams a day.
This is about being mindful of what you eat.
Awareness precedes change.
